There is no bloody "economy" by any sort of real-world terms. There never has been, there never will be until enemies stop dropping anything at all or stop respawning. Even if the only way to get money is to kill Mantids in Sunqua Vale for 1gp ea, there is still an infinite supply.

Please stop trying to diminish other players' experience by claiming it's bad for this phantom "economy."

Never liked the whole voting for free loot thing, its a game, your meant to play it

Please make this a permanent thing, if kegging was a bad thing for the economy then this is just ridiculous. You just can't justify nerfing any farms while this tourny is running
Dear BogusDude,

Who paid for your zkeys when you sold them and how did they get the money?

kthxbye

It costs me nothing to say "thank you." I thank my waiters and waitresses when they bring me my food, even though they're being paid to do the job. It's called being polite, not acting like they're beings from a higher plane of existence.

...Ya if the meal was prepared correctly and the service was good, in that case, I am the first to be polite and give a compliment. NoW, if the waitress got the order wrong, and told me to wait and wait, while others are being served... and when they finally come back and say, sorry what you ordered is no longer available can you pick something else... now thats when then grouchy old man growing inside of me takes over...I dont say thank you when I finally get served, and I dont leave a nice tip if any at all..

While I do somewhat agree with you, what else can we do than sugercoat them? They already have our money, over 6 million copies sold. A part of those are extra accounts that players bought to get more z-keys. We're totally at their mercy.

How much money/profit do you think they will continue to make if they permanently shut-down the XTH?

Us being at "A-Net's mercy" is the biggest load of excretory waste I've ever heard.

If you need some accounts to test let me know as I have 14 accounts with exactly the same picks and they received 55/55/30/80/55/30/0/55/5/5/0 (second 0 in a row for this account)/80/80/30. I have no clue how many points I was supposed to get so being an optimist I assume the 80 is correct, but maybe it is 55... or 30... or 5. But in any event, if you need some accounts to run though the new and improved algorithm when it is finished let me know and you can run mine though it as I have either 3 out of 14 correct or 2 out of 14 correct so they would be a good test set for you. P.S. Please bring back kegging for the poor and the bored, it was fun and not that profitable to be broken.

I saw the QA tester job listing on Anet's website.
I contacted them, asking about a few things, among them I asked if one can do the job long distance. They told me sorry, but no. I asked if there's any sort of job, be it GM or anything else that one can do long distance at Anet. I was told sorry, but no. Meaning, they only hire people who live in the Bellevue area I'm guessing.
In my opinion, this limits the opportunity to hire people. I for instance work part time as a 3D content creator out of home, my products are being tested by very good QA testers before they go live and sell.
Now, I'm not telling ANet to change their business, I just find this kind of weird.

Plus, it'll take time away from ANet's already busy schedule to fix this system and put it back into motion. I'd much rather know that time was spent on skill balances or bug fixes.

QFT plus, one less money sink for degenerate gamblers such as myself to waste gold on lol (500k for crap I could have spent 50k to buy...shoot me now)

Less bla bla bla, more research mate.

The next time they need our money and will make profit is when GW2 gets released. GW1 already fulfilled its purpose on that part. GW1 hardly makes up for the costs anymore (wages, development costs etc.). Prices never been that low, you can buy a campaign for 10 euro. The game has reached its final phase for a while now, that's how things go in the gaming industry.

Just hypothetically, if they close XTH forever (which I think they won't), what are you gonna do? You can ragequit, cry, write angry posts and then what? Nothing.

Maybe this will drive more people into actually earning their keys in PvP.

I do doubt it though

I guess thanks for the update and the apology....it's nice to actually know what's going on.....

Regina, you might want to update your GWW Journal to say that no one will be allowed to vote in June.....

Also, tbh, I'm surprised there isn't more being done to inform the community and to appease those who are going to be pissed when they find out they can't vote on the last day possible. Imo, give everyone a normal amount of RPs for the tourny that we can't vote in as an apology or you're going to have a lot of pissed off players.

Good luck the next few days. I have a feeling that you're going to need it.

I'm not going to let this degenerate into a thread hijack, but there are reasonable arguments for why XTH should go away...forever. I reiterate these not to start a fight, but to indicate why there's a legitimate point of view on the matter.

1) It cheapens the accomplishments of the PvPers. The idea was for zkeys to be a reward for PvPing, and particularly a reward for succeeding in the AT format. The more free keys you give away, the lower the price of keys. The lower the price, the less the in-game reward to the players that "earned" large numbers of zkeys via the monthly.

The number of keys given away by XTH is orders of magnitude greater than the number of keys given away by monthly ATs.

2) It cheapens the rewards for engaging in endgame PvE content. Since most gold items other than the goodies added in the most recent Design-A-Weapon contest (largely found in GW:EN dungeons) come out of the zchest, the supply of these items is increased and the expected return per high end run drops. Also affects tome/weapon mod prices, although the impact is much more difficult to estimate.

3) It unfairly distributes keys. The more accounts you have, the more keys you get. While this is favorable to the developer (sells accounts), it's lousy for those of us that don't care to buy a dozen accounts.

Upshot: There are clear winners and losers from XTH. The winners are the people that ANet prefers to court due to their incentive structure: those who play minimal hours, and those that buy a lot of accounts. The "traditional" gamer that plays moderate to substantial hours and has only a couple of accounts loses.

You can be as dismissive as you wish here, but odds are that if you're posting here, you're a net loser when you consider all the ramifications of XTH. If you read this forum, you probably spend at least a moderate amount of time in game and are likely sophisticated compared to most players.

If you want to argue the above with me, PMs and a separate thread are options. I won't argue it here (to prevent a hijack), so responding is pointless.

I would literally jump with joy if they announced XTH going down forever. Sadly it's not the case.

Bugs and errors aren't a problem here, while when it works correctly it's worse than now.

And I'm saying that after getting myself a couple accounts with the intent of abusing (I mean just using, but it's abusing the economy) and now not even getting any points on them.

It's totally wrong by design and it should just go. Permantently.

So was the person who failed to make a backup of the current system before tinkering with it fired? That must be the case, a simple XTH rollback would have been so easy if not.

Enough QQ. Do you know anything about software development? It sounds like no. Calculating numbers is the easiest and first step. Distribution across accounts and players is obviously complicated enough that it's been an issue for months.

Everyone please just play and enjoy the game. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how YOU CHOOSE to react to it.

Wow...people want the XTH to go down permanently? Just because the Zaishen keys are supposed to be a reward for PVPers? Um...how about no? Not all of us bought this game to beat up other people in boring PVP maps or get beat up by other people who use Wiki builds. Some of us enjoy playing PVE and progressing through the storyline, so why shouldn't they also be rewarded for it? And while we're on it, Z keys aren't limited to PVP anyway because of the new Zaishen quests. Turn in coins and you get some more keys. And there's also that new Flame of Balthazar or something that gives you free Balthazar points, another way to get keys. The XTH is just an added way for PVErs to get what they earn.

And yes, people who use the XTH do earn their Zaishen keys unless they push the random button. If people take the time to think about their votes, they earn what they get. Pushing the random button is a lazy attempt at getting free in-game stuff.

In conclusion, I don't think the XTH should be shut down permanently. It's something that adds more to this already dying game (since the last few updates have been fail). And about the keg farming, why must they insist on nerfing things people enjoy doing? At least it gives us something to do, because it gets so boring going through the entire storyline 20 times. Give us back our keg farm!
